Businesses and Nature-based Solutions to Address Climate Change

Nature protection and Climate Change has recently gained its relevance and responsibility among corporate and businesses across the globe. The United Nations Global Compact – the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative has developed the Nature-Based Solutions for Climate Manifesto for the UN Climate Action Summit in 2019 (23 September 2019). The Nature Based Solutions Action Area is calling on all companies to support greater action in support of Nature-Based Solutions for Climate highlighting the importance of nature for addressing the climate crisis.

In addition, in preparing for the UN Climate Action Summit, the Nature-based Solutions (NBS) Coalition global call for proposals on how NBS can be enhanced and scaled-up and resulted in more than 150 proposals, which were posted on-line on UNEP NBS contribution platform. The NBS platform provides information on contribution and examples to tackle nature protection and climate change, through NBS Contributions Compendium and NBS Example Initiatives.
