EC calls for wide public consultation for 2030 Climate Target Plan

European Commission (EC) is intensifying activities to propel the European Green Deal. The European Green Deal aims to make Europe the world’s first climate-neutral continent and the intention of EC is to increase the EU’s 2030 target for greenhouse gas emission reductions to at least -50% and towards -55% compared to 1990 levels. Revising the current 2030 target upwards puts it on a more gradual pathway towards becoming climate-neutral by 2050. To raise awareness and engagement to pursue new goals, the EC calls for wide public consultation for 2030 Climate Target Plan in the period. 31 March 2020 – 23 June 2020. This initiative invites all citizens, civil society, businesses, NGOs, academia, national, regional and local authorities to the consultation.
