Green Deal call

The European Commission created the financial mechanism (Green Deal call ) for the implementation of the new Green Deal. The new Call (Green Deal call)  will aim at mobilising research and innovation to foster a just and sustainable societal transition and encourage experimentation and social innovation for new ways to engage civil society and empower citizens.

The new financial mechanism for the Green Deal shall encompass 11 areas, eight thematic (Increasing climate ambition: cross-sectoral challenges, Clean, affordable and secure energy, Industry for a clean and circular economy, Energy and resource-efficient buildings, Sustainable and smart mobility, Farm to Fork, Restoring biodiversity and ecosystem services, Zero-pollution, toxic-free environment) and three horizontal areas (Strengthening our knowledge in support of the European Green Deal, Empowering citizens for transition towards a climate neutral, sustainable Europe, Accelerating the clean energy transition and access in partnership with Africa).

The process of shaping the specifics themes within the call is undertaken through wide public consultation opened until June 3, 2020. The Call itself will be published/open on the Funding and tender opportunities portal of the European Commission website, by mid-September 2020.
